PICKLEBALL INSTRUCTION

I am sharing this posting from a participant in Montpelier just in case you might be interested:

Hello All - Happy to remind/announce that we have secured the Traveling Pickleball Pros coming to the Town of Barre courts to offer their clinic. Donna and I attended one of their clinics in Salem Mass a few years ago and had a great experience. I know of others that have travelled to participate in clinics, paying higher rates and incurring meal/hotel costs in addition. How great is it to have the Pros travelling here to us letting them incur the cost of travel? Particulars are below in regard to dates, the 3 session levels we’re offering and cost. Participants could do both days or just 1 session on either day. This is a mix of instruction, practicing what is being taught and being coached while playing, so a combination of group and individual lesson all in one. Event is hosted by Town of Barre Rec Dept.

Dates: Saturday June 24th & Sunday June 25th.

Low Intermediate Level: 8:30 to 10:30 2hrs - $80 per day, $150 for both days
Mid Intermediate Level: 10:45 to 1:45 3hrs - $120 per day, $225 for both days
Advanced Level: 2:30 to 5:30 3hrs - $120 per day, $225 for both days

Registration: Players would register and secure their spot with a $100 non refundable deposit. Eventbrite does have a fee and that part is non-refundable.

Description of the levels are below to help you gauge which level to sign up for. REMEMBER, there are only 16 spots in each session, so first come first served.
Lower Intermediate Level (2.5 to 3.0 level): For Players who already know the rules of game but still need work on their fundamental Strokes & Shots such as Dinks, Drive Shots, Volleys & Serve/Return. We will also critique your doubles game giving you useful tips on Matchplay positioning & strategy along with moving with your partner.

Mid Intermediate Level (3.0 to 3.5 level): For Mid Level Players looking to push their game to the next Level. To participate in this Clinic you should already know how to dink somewhat and you are looking to learn the finer points of Dinks as well as 3rd Shot Drop & Volleys. The emphasis of Clinic will be us teaching you the Soft game Shots: Dinks, Long Dinks, Dink Disguise Lob & 3rd Shot Drop, breaking them down into easy to learn steps. You will also receive a lesson on Serve/Return & Volleys.
Furthermore, we will Critique your doubles game and play with & against you in point play giving you useful tips and suggestions for your improvement.

Advanced Level (3.5 plus to 4.5): For the serious minded or tournament level Pickleball Player looking to take their game to the next Level. There will be an emphasis on drills & skills with soft game: Dinks & 3rd Shot. Also, lessons on Long Dink into 3rd Shot Drop breaking them down into easy to learn steps. We will also give you a lesson on Dink Disguise Lobs. Also, we will show you when you should use the Earnie Shot. Matchplay Critique while you play a doubles game & playing with & against you will be a large part of Clinic.

Our indoor season has ended. Despite seeing SNOWFLAKES this morning I am optimistic for a great summer season of pickleball!

Those of us who live near to the courts will try to post messages here if weather may prevent play. Weather can be variable from location to location and it will help those who drive from a distance.

A few indoor players have not yet paid their $7.50. Please try to bring your payment to the next game. I have already paid the school for everyone.

Oh, and we wanted to figure out what brand and type of ball everyone preferred for our outdoor play. Hopefully we can agree on something.

Plans are in the works for putting two pickleball courts on the rear tennis court. We would get rolling nets to use. Having 3 courts will help us avoid wait times!

Looking forward to the return of our “snowbird” players and sharing fun outdoors with all of you.
