Wonderful to see so many people enjoying pickleball! Weather looks good for outdoor play on Thursday and Friday. I have added 3 pop-up games to the schedule.

We will be adjusting around weather and indoor capacity as we head towards colder weather. The Sunday morning early session has been extended and the later session now begins at 11AM. Let’s try that out and see how it goes.

Be sure to update your signups so people will know if at least 4 are available to play. I am happy to post additional pop-up games if there are other times that are better for you.

I apologize in advance for using this forum to promote something unrelated to pickle ball but it is very relevant to some people we hold near and dear in our Moretown “pickle family”.

As many of you know, Susan McNight’s husband, Mike, recently had an accident that required a blood transfusion to replace the blood he lost. Without that critical, donated blood, he might not be on the path to recovery now.

So here is my pitch. If you want to do something to help others like Mike in the future, please consider donating blood through the Red Cross. God forbid, but it could be any one of us. Blood supplies are critically low and have been for several years. Did you know that only 3% of eligible Americans donate blood yearly? Did you know that it’s really easy; takes less than a hour; can be repeated 6 times a year; there is no upper age limit; and it’s good for your body too!

There are blood drives in our area all the time, at Sugarbush, Waitsfield Church, Harwood, and one coming up soon at the Warren United Church, coincidentally where Susan was a pastor! I just checked and there are open slots from 9 to 1. Here is the info and link to schedule. They don’t take walk-ins very readily so you really need to make an appointment. And don’t be more than 15 minutes late or they may cancel you. (As you may have guessed, I volunteer as a Blood Drive Ambassador so I am the registration desk police women that has to enforce these silly rules.)

If you are a first-timer and want some moral support during your appointment, I am an excellent hand-holder.

— Unless you want to be a super-hero and donate twice as much, choose “Blood” (not Power Red)
— You will get an email confirmation and a reminder the day before. In that second email, there will be a link to do a Rapid Pass the morning of the blood drive. You will save time at your donation by doing this but it’s not critical.
— Remember to bring your driver’s license with you or your Red Cross Donor card if you’ve donated before. It’s a “no go” without proper ID.

Just spoke to Neal and we are opting for ONLY OUTDOOR play today. Same players are signed up for both. We hope to have enough people for more than one outdoor game. Indoor games canceled.

If you plan to play indoors in the future and have not signed a waiver, there are forms on my porch to sign and leave for me to turn in to the school.
